Joel's Hi-Fi Pictures
Various people have asked me from time to time to provide pictures of my hi-fi. This always
used to a problem, since I
didn't own a camera. Now I'm an apprentice photo-nutter, the big problem is that
I can't get the light under control to photograph it in colour. So here's a
right old mix of pictures:
- The electronics. In an array of Hutter
stands. I haven't quite worked out where to put the XPS yet.
- An ebony DBL filling the picture as only a DBL can. Ebony looks completely different according to lighting, distance and angle. Sometimes it takes on a brown tinge, sometimes blue, sometimes pink. This is a normal, middle of the road sort of look for my
DBLs.
- False colour DBL. Ebony DBLs don't look like anything like this colour, but it does bring out the underlying grain pattern (which you can normally only make out by close study).
- Another DBL shot, this time showing off the bluer side
of ebony, surrounded by assorted furniture and the bag from Tony's lava
lamp.
- Foot With DBL (J Benford 1999, hommage to Ron Toolsie).
Here's the Hutter Story, from when I
rebuilt the whole system on Hutter stands ready for the delivery of my last two
NAP500s (replacing four 135s).
Oh, I've got some pictures of other systems.
Here's Chris Bell's foot, with a rather
nice looking pair of NBLs and far better lighting than anything I've managed in
my photos.
And here's a contribution from Jon Gorse,
playing host to part of the Surrey contingent,
giving me the chance to take the worst ever picture of a Gyro.
These from Tarik:
- Tarik's own hommage to Ron's feet.
- Unidentified rack! Call the cops!
And these from Jawed's.
- Here's me and Jawed in front of his DBLs. The
management would like to discuss your upgrading
plans.
- Here's Jawed's Hutter (the rest of the gear
is in a big cupboard off to the left).
- Here he is with a DBL, an original
Winnie the Pooh animation cel, some CDs and an enviably high ceiling (out of
shot).
- Here's some of his art and literature
collection.
- And here's his foot, first the tease and then
the full monty.
